There is nothing more fundamental to a family’s ability to survive and thrive than their legal status.
There are over 42,000 undocumented residents in Sonoma County, most of whom are part of mixed status households where at least one other member is a legal resident or a citizen. There is a pervasive impact on family well-being related to even the threat of deportation, not to mention the increased housing and employment vulnerability due to precarious legal status. Deportation proceedings against any one family member is devastating to the entire family.
The Secure Families Collaborative is a countywide program that is currently limited to residents of Sonoma County. There is no other agency providing a system of free immigration legal services combined with supportive social services.
Special thanks to the stakeholders, community members, and funders who have continued to support this organization.
